On a walk to the store one day I passed by a tiny garage. Just two bays wide, even with only one car inside there didn't seem to be much room to move around. On a walk to the store one day I passed by a tiny garage. Just two bays wide, even with only one car inside there didn't seem to be much room to move around. A VW Passat was being repaired, and most of the front was stripped off and the engine had been removed. The engine was sitting almost in the street, with all of its bits and parts exposed for everyone to see... It was really a strange sight. The street is full of little shops and boutiques and stores and restaurants selling all sorts of goodies and object and foods, so seeing a car half pulled apart was unexpected. It seems in this neighbourhood that people are always working and tinkering, and there are tiny repair shops nearby that fix small electric appliances and weld metal frames and repair bicycles and carts. Seeing a car with its engine naked and removed in this small garage half in the street seemed very odd, though, coming from a place where large, modern, computerized garages are the norm. I'll make sure to pass this way regularly, in the hopes that I'll someday see an old gem being repaired...
