I'm not a big fan of copying, but I guess we can chalk this up to imitation being the sincerest form of flattery. Besides, if there really is any doubt as to the nature of this motorcycle, I think that a race alongside a real Harley would quickly separate the two!
The legendary Harley Davidson brand may not build cars, but I figured they were worth a mention here anyways. Everyone knows what a 'Harley' is, a century-old brand of American motorcycles. They're in a class all their own, and as the expression goes, they're often imitated, but never duplicated. Their motorcycles, and logo, are instantly recognizable the world over: It would seem that a Chinese company feels this way too, as I stumbled across a susprisingly familiar looking logo on a small motorcycle during a recent trip to the Qinghai region of China, on the Tibetan plateau. The bike itself was a small model, probably a 125cc, but from a distance the logo on the tank was clearly inspired by the Harley original: My Chinese isn't very good; maybe 'Zhong' means 'Harley', and 'Shen' means 'Davidson'? After looking it up, I discovered that it means 'Lifelong', which is actually a rather poetic name for a motorcycle. Fans of motorcycles are often fans for life, and maybe this Chinese brand wants to create the kind of lasting love affair with the motorcycle that Harley Davidson has.
